Here is the stock filter box, you can see my K&N sticker telling whoever working on my car not to discard my K&N drop-in filter. Unbolt all the bolts shown in the picture (and the one not shown), and make sure you take out the air sensor on the right of the filter box. Simply wiggle it out of the rubber hole to take it out. You should also unclip the clamp holding onto the hose that's connected from the filter box to the PCV valve. To remove the filter box, simply pull it upward. You may need to wiggle it from the left to the right to loosen the clamp holding onto it a bit. If you have trouble pulling the filter box out, look for a green clamp holding down the filter box into the throttle body, simply use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the clamp.

Hmm. There. All done.

Note: If you remove the stock intake resonator, you will get louder intake tone (much like the noise you get when you slap on an aftermarket intake system.) Doing this will subject the engine to taking in hot engine bay air… and also losing some low end torque and horsepower. If you want to remove the stock intake resonator so you can have more throttle tone, it is probably best to connect a pipe from the stock air box to the rubber tube between the fuse box and the battery, this way the engine wont be dealing with the hot engine bay air, and possibly reduce the potential lost in efficiency from modifying your stock intake.
