Everyone's got to remove the stock intake one of these days. Whether to install an aftermarket intake or to remove the resonator so you can modify the stock intake, it's just something handy to know how to do. Removing the stock intake assembly couldn't be any easier; it can take as little as five minutes.
Before removal, make sure your car is on a secure flat surface, with the hand brake pulled up. Although we're just doing a simple removal, it's always better to be safe than sorry.
Tools required: 10mm socket, socket wrench, and extension. (Yup, that's it)
Take a look the picture above. The 7 yellow arrow points to the location of all the bolts you will need to remove in order to take apart the stock intake system. The air box on the left would be the intake resonator to muffle down intake tone, and the air box on the right would be the filter box, where your filter is located (duh.) You can tell from the picture that one of my bolt is missing, I dropped it in the engine bay about a year ago (lol) and I think its somewhere on the 405 Highway.
This is a close up picture of the bolts you will need to remove to remove the stock intake resonator. Use an extension to reach the bolt farther down, once you remove all the bolts, pry the rubber hose/tube out of the resonator and pull it upward out of its mounting point. You can also unclip the hose/wire (shown in picture spanning across the resonator) to ease the removal of the stock resonator.
